Shelves/Wardrobes:
can be of plywood n laminate. it could be both sides laminate or only on the front. or veneer. there will be variation in cost accordingly. u can also have glss shutters. Approx cost range 1000/- t 1200/- per sq.ft.
Doors:
I seriously think all the doors should be replaced. Also give a thought abt the tiling n sanitary fittings in the toilets.
I hope this answers ur queries. I would also like to know about my role in the project, regarding the design , execution,.........

False Ceiling:
It either be of gypsum. We can have a recessed ceiling as per ur suggestions but the ht. will come down n if u have multiple lights from a single switch ( like in the pic) we may have to rework on the wiring a little.
It can be of any desired colour.
However pl note tht it will be difficult to change the fan point.
Le me know which areas u plan for false ceiling. If u need multiple light points on ur ceilings then u will have to go for false ceiling in those areas.
It also helps in reducing the load on the a/c as the ht. is cut down.This works out to be about 50/- to 75/- per sq.ft.
Flooring:
As suggested the flooring in the common areas can be of wooden laminate or wood which would differ hugely in their prices.
We can work out a pattern as reqd.
Wooden laminate 12mm to 15mm thk. - 100/- to 300/- sq.ft (depending on the selection- teak, oak, pine, rosewood, etc.)
Wooden flooring 12mm to 18mm thk - Teak n rosewood in the range of 600/- n odd
others between 400/- to 500/-
Hey guys,
nausheen mentioned to me about the quote for the kitchen, which is not possible unless u guys are ready with the detailed working drawings. so, have u decided on the final design?
Note:
Siince ur kitchen is quite small, accomodating the breakfast table is a little difficult.
The idea of cutting the slab for the fridge is ok. but we need to check out the elec. point for tht.
The overhead shelves could be made out of plywood or aluminium as in the pic.
The bottom shelves n drawers can be of plywood n laminate with the necessary metal trays.
This can be worked out at the rate of about 1300/- to 1600/- per sq.ft.

our suggestions! VIP!!
ok first of all remember our kitchen isnt that big! the fridge cant come where u ve decided to put it..cuz it ll leave absolutely no space. (Saeed:even if we keep it anywhere in the kitchen it'll still leave no space, now we r making some space for it.)
secondly..the ovens can even come in the store room as it has a socket plus space.. (Saeed: thats a good idea) [SAM: I agree with that too..coz we hardly use that electric oven] n also we can keep our microwave in the dining..cuz the only purpose we use it for is to heat..jus before eating.
n think again abt havin the shelves above the windows cuz the kitchen will definitely look smaller. n i guess congested too! [It'll Shave off 1 feet from top of the windows.. making the windows look wider horzontally... about the sunlight.. we wanted to make sure naushy ma starts cooking in this flat.. so we had to find ways of limiting the sunlight exposure... :-) your truly!]
hmm..these are my comments regarding the kitchen..anyway u guys decide. n let me know if u want me to go back there n click more pics or take any measurements..ok Bhai now dont get angry..this time i ll go:)..its too hot here..toooo damn hot.:)
Saeed: So whats final??? sama forward nausheen the final draft and let her check with ayaaz and get a quote. ---- SAM: MAIL SENT...
Nausheen, sama had asked for the bwlow which u have not posted yet!!!
"I'll make an illustration of the whole thing.. meanwhile.. i need you to measure the height, width and depth of the black leather sofa, blue arm chairs, the wooden sofa downstairs (the cute little ones) and the computer table.... please do this ASAP and post the dimensions here or send me an SMS.ALWAYS WIDTH x DEPTH x HEIGHT
Width = side to side
Depth = front to back
Height = bottom to top"

Need you input, you are the point person for this project!!
Now the ball is really rolling... lets all Play.

SAM: I think this is the best one... minimum furniture.. but did you notice.. its the floor thats making all the difference... wooden flooring for our common areas... which comes to roughly 405 SQ FT... @ min. 140 per SQ FT... do the math... but that could make all the difference. (405 SQ FT is FOYER + HALL + DINING + WASH BASIN AREA)

Cool ones yeah??? real contemporary, look at the ceiling... sama check with fazli if theres anyway to have a false ceiling thats low on maintenence and long lasting.
KITCHEN MODIFICATION for FRIDGE INSET
Saeed(25/05): One last update... How bout having height variation in shelves (as in the left pic and pics above) and also having the depth of the shelf above fridge same as the depth of the fridge?
SAM: The Kitchen FINAL DRAFT --- Left Wall View & Window Wall View & Sink Wall View... post comments.. i think this shud be finalised today-thursday-24.05.07.. lets just not do too much of thinking.. keep it simple & elegant.Saeed: I'm cool with the above, GREEN from me. Think of having microwave oven fit into the design. - DONE! CHECK ABOVE [SAM]
SAM: The creation of the breakfast table in a ISLAND fashion will give a very contemporary look as well as will be very functional. The fridge is roughly 2'9.5" Width x 2'4" Depth.
Looks really cool and is spacious, but white in color! how bout having shelves over the fridge, as in the kitchen pics in other post... what if we cut a part of the slab (granite) on one end (in front of the door) to fit in the fridge??? that would make the fridge part of the kitchen and well integrated into the shelves...
Sama finalize today the provision for cosmetic enhances like:
1) lamp hanging from the ceiling on breakfast table
2) spot lights below shelves
3) spot lights inside glass doored shelves
why dont u put it all on a proper acrobat file, which nausheen will use as "the kitchen document" for quote and stuff.
Tomorrow(25/05) we'll start with the dining, hall and foyer area - deadline: three days
